Aimee Volkofsky
Join Broken Hill singer-songwriter Aimee Volkofsky as she celebrates the release of her new EP, A Bird Can’t Help But Fly Home, with a special launch show at the Lomond Hotel. For this intimate performance, Aimee will be joined by acclaimed fiddler Cat Moser (of Cat & Clint), whose playing brings warmth and depth to Aimee’s evocative songs.
Opening the night is Melbourne’s own Charlotte Le Lievre, a rising favourite on the alt-country circuit, known for her soulful storytelling and powerful stage presence.
Aimee’s music is deeply rooted in place, drawing on the stark beauty and tough resilience of her home in the Silver City (Broken Hill), on Wilyakali and Barkindji Country in far west New South Wales. Her songs weave together threads of folk, country, and blues, telling stories of rebel women, workers’ uprisings, ecological struggles, and the unyielding strength of communities shaped by remote landscapes.
Her new EP, recorded along an old gold miner’s trail between Broken Hill and Castlemaine, is both grounded and expansive. With just a single day in the studio, Aimee, Cat Moser, and producer Mitch Dillon (Ragged Gum Records) captured a raw, honest sound that reflects the themes at the heart of her songwriting: love, belonging, and the wisdom of the natural world.
A Bird Can’t Help But Fly Home is a collection of seven vivid and lyrical songs, carrying listeners through the deserts of far west NSW to the rugged hills of west Texas. This Melbourne launch offers the rare chance to experience those stories up close, in the warmth of one of the city’s best-loved live music rooms.
Don’t miss an unforgettable night of alt-country and folk storytelling.
