Nick Charles & Mick Pealing
What happens when one of Australia’s finest voices in rock, roots and popular music unites with Australia’s virtuoso of roots guitar? The answer is simply - a sublime mix of acoustic music drawing on two lifetime’s acclaimed careers.
Mick Pealing has been the signature voice of iconic Australian bands “Stars” with hit singles and a number one album as well as the front man in the legendary “Spaniards” and “The Ideals”.
Nick Charles has been awarded every possible accolade in the blues and roots world, toured the USA 12 times and recorded nearly 20 albums.
This is a duo not to be missed. A rare appearance and one you should surely attend. Great new songs, a sprinkling of classics and glimpses of two significant discographies.
Mike Rudd & George Butrumlis
This Lomond Acoustica concert sees piano accordionist George Butrumlis (Black Sorrows, Zydeco Jump, The Purple Dentists and Raga Dolls) joining Spectrum’s main man, Mike Rudd, in an acoustic-skewed reappraisal of Rudd’s all-electric output.
The pair’s repertoire is drawn from the always intriguing catalogue of songs penned by Mike Rudd (and his alter–ego My Crudd) from the early ‘70s to the present day. There are the versions of the singles of course, like the most famous of all Rudd’s songs, I’ll Be Gone (Someday I’ll have money), The Indelible Murtceps’ Esmeralda and Ariel’s Jamaican Farewell, but there’s more obscure material drawn from the albums, Spectrum Part One and Milesago, Murtceps’ Warts UpYour Nose, Ariel’s A Strange Fantastic Dream and Rock & Roll Scars.
There are newer songs too, from the Living on a Volcano CD and BreathingSpace series of EPs and the occasional blues standard. You’ll enjoy watching Mike Rudd’s evolution from a recognised rock muso to a singer/songwriter and raconteur.
